Summer twenty-ten

So I thought I would do a recap of the summer and the last few months since it's been a while.

We started off the summer by moving to this cozy duplex! Maybe I'll put some pictures later, I just don't always love to do that because I worry it will come off in a different way then intended..if that made sense.

Dave always has great events, and this was no different. If you've ever heard of the marriage ref, we did the same thing with Ryan as the host, and three judges.

this was one of my favorites! (sorry bob and karen) The argument was about how she makes the bed all neat and tidy and then Bob sits on the bed making a ''bum print'' and never smooths it back out. It was hysterical how serious couples got over these little arguments. Among some of the arguments were spending too much time with sisters, leaving the lids on used tupperware(makes them really smelly), dave wearing his green suit all the time, a wife not opening cereal boxes properly, the husband loving their dog too much, wife buying a coat rack not for hanging coats on but for decoration, and well, you get the point.

Night at the gymnastic club, a classic summertime memory. Except this one was extra sad cuz we said goodbye to the Fitzners! miss you guys. but some reason we didn't get a pic of you guys that night.(spence was in charge of the camera..)


Cindy and Ricey got sealed. It was really nice to be able to be in the sealing room with them and share that special day. Cindy, of course, looked stunning!

And of course summers always have to have at least one injury, right? Except usually it happens while DOING something. poor spence. He just tripped down the three stairs into the bonus room and rolled his ankle. Pretty bad, too. It's been over a month and still is swollen. He refuses to get it looked at becuase he is too stubborn.

LOTS of golf. Well, spence golfing that is. Two golf trips to BC this year for him, and countless rounds throughout the season.

visiting family. It was really fun to be able to spend a day and a half in Salmon Arm at Spence's sister jennifer's house and see their kids and Anna and Zach came down as well so we finally got to see two of our nephews we hadn't had a chance to meet yet. they are adorable



Next is the cabin! My favorite place to go. I love spending time with family, tanning, swimming, playing games, boating, skiing, tubing, reading, no make up or straighteners needed, camp fires, sea doo rides ect. And I love being in the mountains in BC. it's just so refreshing to get away from the city for a while and enjoy how beautiful it is out there.

THis dinasour towel is hilarious. I don't know where it came from, but all the boys were fighting over it.

Me and Baby Charolotte, or Shar-Shar-Binx, as my nephews (who are in love with Star wars) call her. She is just so petite and adorable I could hold her all day.


I got two of my wisdom teeth out a couple of weeks ago. This picture is just after one day. I wished I took it of the second day because I looked like a chipmunk. Oh well. It was not as bad as when I got my left side out, but not a walk in the park, that's for sure.



This was in Canmore. Spence and I decided that we were going to spend a couple days here for our 4th anniversary. I can't believe it's been FOUR years. that seems weird. Makes me seem old, but then I remember how young I was when I got married.

It was fun though to get away, go to banff and walk around, hot springs, go to a nice resturaunt, and just enjoy each other. I'm not a gusher, and I'm not big on PDA which includes blogging about it, but just to embarass spence a little, I will say that it's been a great four years with ups and downs (obviously) but learning and growing with him has been amazing, and he is such a softy who makes me smile and remember how fun life is. I'm excited that he's going back to school this fall so our schedules are similar, and so that I"ll hopefuly see more of him.(and I'll probably see more of him once golf season ends)


And what is a summer without weddings? Since I've been working more at nights and on the weekends it's been hard to get to weddings a lot this summer, but we decided that on our way home from Canmore we'd stop in caglary for Kevin and Mikasa's wedding. Kevin and my brother steven (twin brother) Were best friends and I almost would call kevin a brother in high school I saw him so much. So it was nice to be there for their wedding and hang out with family.

And if you've stayed with this long post, then this last picture is of me and my sister angela. She moves to idaho this week! I can't believe it. I remember dating someone when I was 18 and he was 23, which is weird cuz that means she could be dating one of my friends down there or something. haha no I'll miss her though. she's so talented, funny, beautiful, and has always had better style than me. I'm happy for her to move and have the fun experience of college, but sad that I won't see her as often. And even though I used to push her down the stairs cuz she wanted to be like me, I really love her and will miss you ang! Have fun

And that's been our summer! I can't believe it's over and I'll be going back to work and spence is going back to school in less than a week

Rocking Chair Redo

My mom was going to throw this chair in the dumpster and asked if I wanted it instead. I had seen some cool stuff on some blogs (my fav one is allthingsthrifty.com SO much awesome stuff there) so I thought I would try one of the techniques. So this is the before picture

I'm definately no decorator and I dont even know what I'm doing, but I love reading other people's blogs and seeing cool ideas and just trying it. and yes, this is a boring post, but I was sick of looking at that video games post every time i came to my blog.

What You've All Been Waiting For

As some of you know, I have recently started playing super mario bros. But since spence has been spending time playing basketball and he's been gone alot, I thought i would expand my horizon, and so oone night spence had his NHL 2010 EA sports 2010 (for those that will surely want to go get it after this post) and I firgured what the heck, let's try it. by the way, the game has such great graphics and they have spent so much detail in the creatoin of the game.

And if any of you want to play a game, let me know. I've got a head set and have an online ID, so add me. I'm up to play anytime, except when spence is nagging me to hang out with him, or wants me to come to bed with hiim at the same time and doesn't mwant me staying up and playing video games. Little does he know I sneak out and play until 5am usually.

So first thing I had to do was upload the current roster. Then I chose a team to start my season with. I coudlnt decide between a few teams since I haven never thought it's really fair to pick a really good team, it seems so cheap. I like to pick a team and start from the bottom up. It's also hard for me because I love the Flames and so sometimes it feels like Im' cheating on them when I chose another team. So i ended up going with the Chicago Blackhawks.

So in the past few days I have played a lot and my team is in the playoffs!! What is really crazy is that these teams are going to be facing each other in the playoffs, and so maybe my game will be telling. I guess you'll just have take'er easy, sit back, and read....




PLAYOFFS
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Nashville Predators.
Game 1 - Predators won 4-2. Not a strong start for Huet.
Game 2 - Predators win again 3-1. better for Huet, but the guys can't bring it together to get a decent shot on net. Series 2-0
Game 3 - Hawks finally get their act together and Sharp and Toews play a great game winning it 4-2. Series 2-1
Game 4 - Hawks have found their rythmn and looks like they have thrown Rinne off of his. After 4 goals in the first 2 periods, Rinne is replaced by ellis, good move by Barry Trotz, but too little, too late. Hawks win it 4-1. Huet solid.
game 5 - Campbell is injured from previous game and does not make an apperance. Defense lacks a little bit and Erat and Arnott make two ugly goals that get past Huet. But hawks endure and win 5-4 in OT. Hossa scored the winning goal.
game 6 - Huet has an off night and the preds are relentless and outshot the hawks every period. we lose 4-2.
Series now at 3-3

and for Game 7 a details of the game.
1st Period.
Right away Nashville sets the tone of the game as Shea Weber and Ryan Suter get physical. The hawks can take it, and have no problem dishing it back.
At 14:53 Patrick kane takes a shot on net, Sharp gets the rebound and puts it back in! Hawks now 1-0.
Their adrenaline is up and although the rest of the period goes scoreless, Hakws had 25 shots on goal while the Preds only had 12. Huet had a great save with 1:35 to go in the period when Sullivan had a great chance at a short-handed goal. No luck there and we head into the 2nd period 1-0.

2nd period.
Once again the game starts out physical.
Duncan Keith gets a penalty for cross-checking Suter. He's in the penalty box for 3:22 and now Nashville has a power play. hawk's defense was good and kept the Preds working hard. But there was PP goal with 58 seconds left in the PP and Joel Ward gets a pass from Arnott, takes a slap shot and got past Huet.
Gam misconduct penalty for slashing on Sullivan at around the 9 minute mark. 5:00 PP for Chicago.
Nashville killed the penalty off and sustained good pressure, and at the end of the 2nd it's 1-1.
Shots: Chicago 15 Nashville 13

3rd period.
Towes misses an open net on a break away with the pass from Hossa, I'm talking a wide open cage. tough one.
Sharp scores his 2nd of the game on a feed from Kane. Beautiful shot. 13:44. A snap shot from the right hash mark.
2-1.
Later in the period Sharp tries or a hat trick but comes up empty as Rinnie makes a great save. Huet has a few great saves against Hornqvist's wrist shot. Then at 4:21 Steve Sullivan bangs in a puck that was sitting on the goal line. We're tied 2-2. games goes into OT

OT
Hossa scores the OT winner off of a great pass from kane at 3:56 to win the game. 3-2 win for the Hawks.

My New Loves

so this is a present that I got for christmas..and i am so in love. it is much easier to play than my parents old one I was using, and it sounds so much better. I am by no means a guitar genius or anything, but I love playing and just messin around on it.



this is a hideous picture of me rockin out. but i thought it was so cute cuz Chuck is on my shoulder. WE do duets. The first time I heard him chirp/sing was when I played a song.



this is the game i got for my bday from spence. only problem is, we don't have a wii..and all the stores we called to are sold out..go figure. so I have been to my in laws house and recently just passed the game! But it is so fun cuz you can play with four people doing super mario bros. it's hilarious. so if anyone is up for it, I'm there. you supply the wii, I supply the game, and my sweet skills.



I was a bit spoiled this year for christmas and got everything i wanted. Spence surprised me with this lil baby. She has worked like a charm and I am loving having one in my house. So next pics are what we've accomplished together in the past few months.

this one ended up being a little long and skinny...ran out of fabric after that. oh well



if you look closely at this one, you will notice that i have cheated. I have not yet finished the border, and there are still pins in it..i'll finish it one day!



This is spence's 'video game blanket' that I made him for his bday. he needed a new one, and I had the fabric around and needed an idea for his bday, and so it was perfect. I was just glad he liked it!





this was just a little project that came up out of the blue one day, and I worked non stop till it was finished. I forgot to take a 'before' picture, but anyone that has been to my place, or even my mom's a long time ago, it's these gross grey chairs that make you sink (still does, i'm working on it though) and so I decided to recover it. It's not perfect, like many things I do, but I just love it way more! It is a little crazier than I thought it was going to be, but I'm okay with that. ps ignore the huge mess all around it. i'm not the tidiest person, so live with it.



and last but not least, CRAFTS!!! this one me and janna had a craft date and got together and did these letters.



I did this one for my mom for mother's day. gong to put it up on her mantle between picture frams of all the kids.



found this on 'make it and love it' blog. GREAT site. i pretty much copy everything off of there. you take styrofoam balls, wrap hemp around them, and then spray paint them to match your colours. I will admit, it was much more tedious than I had expected and spray painting inside a one-bedroom apartment gives you an instant, long-lasting head ache.



another idea i saw on make it and love it was recovering an old pair of shoes you don't wear. so I decided wwhat did I have to lose? so I tried it. here is the before pic.



and here's the after pic. spence says they're a little crazy! i haven't worn them yet though cuz I didn't do the water-resistant modge podge, so i will have to wait till this snow clears up!

So somehow my bishop came across my blog the other day. That was a real treat since my last post had a song with profanity in it. If I wasn't moving soon, I think he would release me from my calling since I am clearly a bad influence on children.haha.

Anyways, I was just listening to some of my brothers songs, and thought I'd post a link to his facebook page and have more appropriate music for the world to relate me to. kind of lame? maybe. Even though he is my brother and I am a little bit bias, I will honestly tell you he has some good songs. Juile's Quick Tip

Have you ever been driving and you are SOO tired that it is dangerous for you to be on the road? ya I've done that. probably should have pulled over, but sometimes when you're on your way to work, or just want to get where you're going you have no choice but to keep going. SO when all the usual tricks of turning up the music, rolling down the window or calling people just to talk has failed, i would suggest learning a rap. hahah. hilarious when I say that. But i"m not kidding.

A couple weeks ago I was driving to work and literally kept zonking out. totally scarey. but i couldn't just pull over. Luckily I had spence's ipod that day and I remembered he got the new swollen members cd so I quickly found it, and put on Lonely One. worked like a charm. windows were down (for the cold air) and I was blasting swollen members and knew every word. soo cool.

for those interested in learning the first verse so we can rap together, here's the song. but don't listen too far..there is some bad language later on. but i change the song by that point....
