My Ugly People Sterotype

So just a quick realization that I have had lately. And after meeting someone recently, it has confirmed what I have always believed to be false. I will explain, but I'll warn you ahead time, you could find it offensive, don't know who's reading this..so at least I warned you!
I don't know about you, but I have kind of always had this sterotype that non-attractive people are super nice. Even some that are a little bit nerdier or shy, but espeically the non-attractive people i have always just assumed they are just all really nice people. I don't know if this came about because I had met a few that were really nice, or maybe it's because I watched a movie or tv show once that portrayed the geeky shy guy as being super nice ect. maybe i should jsut blame myself for being extremely narrow minded, who knows.
but lately this ''type'' (the word ugly is so blunt, just like fat, so I usually try not to say it) has surprised me with how harsh they can be, well at least some of them. I can't believe some of the mean things that they have said. And at first I would think it was just a mistake or a one time thing, but it's not! So I guess I was wrong with my sterotype. So just a little warning to anyone who has thought the same thing: Ugly people are not always nice. and that's my lesson for today. take it or leave it.

and just a side note about myself lately. I am obsessed with peppermint things. Just had peppermint cheesecake tonight, delicious. in love with peppermint white hot chocolate. starbucks, peppermint white hot chocolate is to die for. wish I could go get one right now actually...

HALLOWEEN!

So just a quick update! I LOVE halloween!!! i love dressing up as anything you want, and i just Love getting to see what other people thought of. We drove up and down Whyte Ave at midnight just laughing at people`s outrageous costumes and seeing some good ones, and some that didn`t hardly cover anything!! don`t know how those girls were still warm...oh well.

So It was halloween a couple of weeks ago and i haven't had time to put some pictures on fbook or even on here. so here are just a couple. me and Spence were from the show Dexter. If you dont watch it, no worries. Dexter is a serial killer, but he only kills other people who are bad cuz they kill innocent people. And he always kills them wrapped in plastic, so i have saran wrap on, and a knife in me and a cut on my cheek. He also always wears the same thing when he kills, and that`s pretty close to it.

Anyways, we went to Doug`s house for halloween and just had some games, food and a movie. below was Dave`s costume which I thought was hilarious. He was Micheal Phelps! he had a medal around him, a towel, and as you can see a small swimsuit. (that wasn`t my favorite part! but funny)

And these were the treats I made for it. They are made with cake inside them and then melted chocolate. They`re called cake-pops. Taren had made some before, so I decided I would try some. They were a little bit of work, and not totally perfect, but that`s okay I sitll had fun. They come off the Bakerella website. Forget what it is right now, but just google it She has some fun ideas.

Well, now it`s time to stat getting ready for christmas! happy shopping!

Blanket!

So this is the blanket that I made and my sister Angela helped me with. I bought fleece and then cut squares, then fringed the edges, and then we tied about a million knots! It was fun though and gave us something to do at the cabin. I wanted it bigger so I finally bought more fabric and finished it!

Getting Lamer or Just Older?

I know I haven't written for a couple of months, so I will do an update later with pics, but I thought I would just post what was on my mind.

I've been noticing lately how some things about me have been changing, and I'm not really sure where to credit the change to. Age? Marriage? Job? who knows. Since you know I love lists, here's what I've noticed lately.

1st. I am not nearly as adventerous as I used to be. Now I can be, but only with the right thing. I used to love crazy rides, for example. You know that ride at Calaway Park, that ''Wind'Em Up'' ride? (i think that's what it's called). Well, if you arent familiar with this, you get strapped in standing up and just spin spin spin! I used to go on it all day and not feel any effects. Now anything like that and I'm feeling queezy after 2 seconds! and windy roads! used to never feel a thing...now the road to Golden isnt 'fun' anymore.

-I am a night owl. I love to stay up late. I feel I am most productive later on. And this didn't cause any problems until probably a year-ish ago. I noticed that repeated nights in a row of staying up and still getting up in the morning for work does not work out so well. When did this happen? Why did this happen? I'm not sure. All I know is that 1st year of college I could stay up until 3, 4 am, get up for 8 0'clock class, and somehow make it through the day. not anymore....

-I don't know if it's because I married spence (who has SUPER sensitive ears....) but I have noticed I rarely blast my music anymore.

-now this one, I really don't know where it came from. I never was a germ-a-phobe. but now i do not find it okay to eat food once it has fallen on to the ground. (there is no more 10 sec. rule in my mind) I like to wash my hands more often, and the other day when I was at A&W, I gagged as i watched the lady put on my cup lid with bare hands. has no one heard of gloves?

-I have also really gotten into reading this past year. I don't know if it's because my job has some breaks and so i have time to read, but I have just loved to cuddle up with a good book. anyone ready anything good lately?

-and I'm sure there's more, but one big sign of me getting older, or whatever you wanna call it, is that I have gotten into crafts....there's the little bit of digital scrapbooking, but this summer ang helped me make this blanket and Kay and I learned how to make these baby headbands, and I pretty much went nuts with it. And weird discovery is that I have noticed I want to learn how to knit every time I see yarn....?

so any diagnosis of what you think it might be?

maybe I'm just weird and never noticed it before. ...

Grad and Taylor Swift!

Spencer's Grad

So I thought that I would add both of these last updates in one post so first I'll just mention how Spencer graduated..I know, two month's ago. Just took me a while to get the pics up and stuff. He graduated from the Bachelor of Management degree. He just got a job at Blue Cross and is starting on Monday so we're really excited for that. Both of our parents came to the grad and so did Kay and Melvin. Then we went to Ruth's Chris (treat of daddy dorward) and had a great time. I have the video somewhere, but when Spencer's name got called he waves this huge goofy wave to the crowd and our fam and friends start cheering. I was pretty embarassed, but what can you do.

I won't go on and on about it cuz that's not my style, but I am pretty proud of him for doing so well and for graduating. I know these days it seems kind of standard for people to get degrees, but I think it's a huge feat and nothing to be down played. I'm also proud of him for what he has accomplished. I know he really learned and grown a lot, and I'm excited to see where he'll go in the future! Congrats!

and now, TAYLOR SWIFT!

okay so I already posted pics on facebook so I'm only posting 2 on here because it takes me longer, but I will add a short clip for those Taylor fans out there. So we drove down to Calgary on Wednesday to see Taylor Swift. We've already seen her open twice and wanted to see her headline a show! So Since she was only opening in Edmonton, our only choice was to drive down on Wed afternoon, and drive back REALLY late on wednesday night. TOTALLY worth it though.

So we got to the Stampede and went a ride and ate some mini-donuts, and then headed to the concert. The openers were some band I had never heard off and Kelly Pickler (an american idol contestant a few years back.) I wasn't really too excited for them, but when Taylor came on, we were pretty pumped. We sat 8th row on the floor and could see a lot. (i usually never pay to sit that close, so this was sort of a first). It was fun too cuz my twin was there with his girlfriend, so when Taylor came down on the floor to her second stage, we got to hang out too.

It was really fun and she was really great! She sang for pretty much 2 hours straight and when she was walking back and forth from her stage she would stop and take pictures with people and hug people ect and she just really got involved with the audience, which of course we loved becuase that meant that we got to touch her too! (wow, that kind of sounds creepy...hhaha) Spencer actually got a hand-grab in there, (he claims she held his hand longer than anyone else's...ya right..). I was satisfied with my side touch since I have never touched a famous person before. The closest I have ever been is when the Moffats came to Calgary back in like 2000 or something. gotta love the moffats. So I will say that all in all it was a pretty succesful and fun night!

A Laugh Is A Smile That Bursts

Something that people might not know about me is that for some reason I have these random laugh attacks...the reason I say most people probably don't know this is because most of the time they happen when I've laid in bed, lights off ready to go to sleep, and Spence and I are just having a little conversation before we fall asleep and it turns into ridiculous laughter out of the blue. .

I just can't help it! The other day this happened and Spence didn't even say anything funny this time, which is usually what sets it off. The uncontrolable laughter came anyways...and kept coming.. and coming... i'm sure the new people that moved in above us were wondering what the heck was so funny at 2 am...

The ridiculous thing abuot them is that you can't control it! And it's not just the little polite giggles you give when someone tells a bad joke, or even a hearty chuckle you give when you hear a good joke, this is the gut wrenching, tear jerking laughter that makes your stomach hurt afterwards. And it doesn't matter what Spence says, it's halarious. It makes me laugh even harder when he says how weird I am and then makes me explain why I'm even laughing, which brings on a whole new wave of laughter because I realize what I'm laughing at isn't even funny.

To the right is a picture of me genuinely laughing...not a pretty sight, I know. I blame my squinty eyes on my parents..but somehow mine and angela's are probably the worst in the family...but I will give thanks to my parents and family for a sense of humour. Some of my favorite memories of growing up are around the dinner table laughing, usually AT someone (everyone has been the target at one time or another, don't worry) or someone saying something funny during a prayer and everyone bursting out in uncontrolable laughter. I remember fighting with my dad and putting on the dirtiest look I could muster (no, I have never used this word before..but it's the only one that came to mind..) and bruce somehow getting me to laugh. It's hard to keep a straight face and stay angry when you start laughing. suddenly you forget about how mad you were.

I might not laugh all the time, and I'm definately not the happiest person, but I do love to laugh. The other day I saw two people walking down the hall laughing so hard that they could hardly speak. I had no idea why they were laughing or what was so funny, but I couldn't help but burst out laughing when I was out of their sight. It was hilarious. why? i don't even know. I guess it's cuz laughter really is contagious.

TV Series Are Evil

Anyone that knows me has got to know that I have a secret addiction....tv series! It's horrible and I blame it ALL on my husband. I was never a big TV-watcher, and I definately never followed anything too closely. Maybe a little bit of OC here and there in high school, but I was never a dedicated fan of anything. Then Spencer came along..the rest is history.

When Spencer and I were dating he was appalled that I had never watched 24, let alone heard of it. He had the first 4 seasons on DVD, and that's when the addiction started! I began watching and couldn't stop. There's something about no commericals and being able to just pop in the next disc when you've just had a huge cliff-hanger!

At the moment we've gotten into Desperate Housewives. I thought it would just be a huge drama, typical ect (which it kind of is) but it's also a comedy. You begin to love all the characters and their funny quirks. I wouldn't suggest watching this with little kids, teenagers, and especially not my parents. louise would have a heart-attack.

Some people might think I'm crazy or have no life, but I just can't stop a movie half-way through and be okay with watching it the next day (no matter how bad it is). When I read books, I will read like crazy just so that I can have the whole story at the same time. Which proves that I'm not all that patient either. (yes spence, I just admitted it..)

Anyways, I won't share all of the shows that I follow or have TV seried, but a few that I have thoroughly enjoyed would be 24, chuck and probably one of my favorites was Veronica Mars. (don't be deterred by the fact that it was discontinued after 3 seaons. that was a HUGE mistake.)

I guess I have this post as a confession, and also a warning to those who have a life and can't afford to waste time glued to a 40" screen. And to those that can afford it, call me if you're starting something new or got something good I should start! As soon as i'm done this series, I'll have a massive amount of time that I won't know what to do with....

CHUCK

So it's been a few weeks since I updated my blog. Sometimes I think that I need something REALLY exciting to blog about. But I don't really. So I thought I would blog about our new addition to the family. And I promise I will put pictures up some time..

Anyways, so no, it's not a baby. And no, it's not a dog. It's a bird! haha. I think this is funny becuase after living with Zlani, Spence's family's bird, i swore I'd never get one, EVER. But I fell in love with this one at the store and just had to get him.
His name is Chuck. I didn't think I would blog about him, but he is just so darn cute. It's funny how when we first got him he didn't like to stay on your finger or knee and just sat in one place in his cage, but now he's getting used to us and has a little personality. His favorite show is American Idol. EVERY time that the beginning music comes on he starts doing his soft little chirps. And then he will like try to sing with contestants and stuff. funny.

I secretly think that he likes Spencer better...but I hope not. I won't bore you with anymore really, but once you meet him, you would love him. even ask Taren, who hates animals. she now has a secret crush on him, I'm sure of it.

Regrettable and hopefully forgettable

So there are times when you do some split second decisions, and sometimes you think about them for a long time, but then later you come to regret the decision you made.
For instance, this morning I couldn't get my bangs to work right AT ALL. which sounds so superficial, but will seriously ruin the whole day because then you have to go with a headband or pinning them back or something. but i decided that the reason they weren't working is because they were too long...so instead of waiting for my appointment in 3 weeks, i decided to just give them a little trim...yikes. now i look in the mirror and wonder what I was thining. I will now have bad bangs for the next three weeks!

So that got me to thinking about other things that I have done that I regret. Some not that serious, others more serious. So I decided to make a list. In no particular order, I might add.

-i regret going through a red light a couple of a weeks ago. 2 second decision that cost me 287 bucks.

-i regret pushing angela down the basement stairs when I was like 10 cuz she was bugging me.

-i regret pushing angela and make her fall down on a metal box that sliced her knee open..oopss.

-i regret letting shanna foil my hair in grade 11 when she really had no idea what she was doing! (and
what was I thinking, black and blonde????)

-i regret that my favorite article of clothing in grade 6 were sick puke green velvet overalls.

-i regret telling a joke that no one laughs at. I'm sure this has happened quite a few times, but I can't ever forget the time in grade 9 at Devin Smith's house...embarasses me now to even think about it..

-i regret ever creating the email account jewelsjulius@hotmail.com. i hate telling people my address, yet I have never bothered to change it since grade 6.

-i regret being super clicky in high school....i thought 4 was the perfect number...

-i regret taking pure math 30 when i didn't have to.

-i regret juding people by their apperance..still do it all the time.

-i regret lying to my mom's face in grade 11...only time that ever happened. idiot.

-i regret wanting a cheaper flight and took the lay over in halifax for our trip...worst decision ever.

-i would list names of boys that i dated, (josh will never let me live down tooth...) but we'll just say anyone but Spence was a mistake, obviously. (ahhaha.) even though at the time i thought it was a bad decision i would regret later..

-i regret eating so much on thanksgiving day and fast sundays that you feel sick..

-i regret buying that shirt with angela convinced that it would be an easy fix to make it fit me....wrong again.

-i regret buying our civic without getting it inspected...i guess you learn from your mistakes..

-even though I say this is not in order, sometimes my biggest regret would be buying spencer a ps3 for christmas that one year. Although I do not regret suprising him and making him happy, if I would have only known.....maybe the house would be cleaner, we would spend more time together, his homework would be done, and I wouldn't wake up at 5 am from him crawling into bed after playing video games for 10 hours...

A First For Everything

Well, here's my big first post here. It's strange writing a blog because I am so used to facebook. When you write on someone's wall or message them, you cater what you say to their personality or their humour. Here, it's not certain who will read this and so basically I can't pretend to be funny, or try to make a certain person laugh because the reality is, some people will like it, and some people will not. I'm fine with that.

Keep in mind that I have read blogs, but I don't have any kids and I'm not pregnant, so I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this. SO I think I'll start with the radom toothpaste stain that I have on my shirt right now. I hate when I spill on my shirt and then have to go through the rest of the day with that huge stain. It's like a pimple. You think everything is staring at it all the time. Sometimes you draw attention to it to make yourself feel better, or make it less awkward. I remember once I had a pimple (i prefer pimple over zit, becusae zit sounds so harsh) and i pretended like it was a mosquito bite. I don't think I fooled anyone.

I'm also going to blog about how I know nothing about formatting or making my blog look cute. Maybe in the future experienced bloggers will share this knowledge with me.
